45 minute treatment

Advanced professional-grade peel treatments designed to visibly resurface, renew, and retexturise the skin, revealing a smoother, brighter, and more youthful-looking complexion.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Medik8 peels are professional-grade treatments that use carefully selected exfoliating acids to visibly resurface, retexturise, and rejuvenate the skin. By gently removing dead and damaged skin cells, chemical peels stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process and encourage the growth of healthy new cells.

Suitable for a variety of skin concerns and most skin types, Medik8 peels are tailored to your individual requirements and goals.

Benefits of Medik8 peels include:

  • Improved skin texture and tone
  • Reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Visible fading of pigmentation and hyperpigmentation
  • Reduction of blemishes, congestion, and breakouts
  • Enhanced skin hydration and radiance
  • Stimulation of collagen production for firmer, healthier-looking skin

Which acids are used in peels and where do they come from?

A blend of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) will be chosen to tailor a peel to specifically address your skin concerns and goals.

AHAs work on the skin’s surface to gently exfoliate, smooth texture, and brighten the complexion. They can also help minimise pigmentation and stimulate collagen and elastin production. Many AHAs are derived from natural sources, for example glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane, lactic acid from milk, and mandelic acid from almonds and cherries.

BHAs penetrate deeper into the pores to dissolve excess sebum and debris build up, loosening congestion and blackheads. They are particularly effective for blemish prone skin due to their antibacterial properties, and they help promote a clearer, more even skin tone. Salicylic acid is the most commonly used BHA and can be derived from both synthetic and botanical sources.

PHAs have larger molecular structures, therefore absorb into the skin more slowly. This makes them ideal for sensitive skin types, providing gentle exfoliation while also retaining moisture to hydrate the skin. Gluconolactone, for example, is derived from glucose and offers both exfoliating and hydrating benefits.

What Does a Peel Treatment Involve?

Your treatment begins with a thorough double cleanse, followed by a relaxing lifting facial massage and soothing neck and shoulder massage. Gentle exfoliation prepares the skin before your personalised Medik8 peel formulation is applied.

Following your treatment, your skin will be hydrated with a hyaluronic acid serum and a nourishing moisturiser, leaving it protected and glowing.

To support optimal results at home, you will also receive a Medik8 Post-Treatment Kit (worth £32), containing four travel-sized products designed to last up to 14 days:

  • Calmwise Soothing Cleanser
  • Hydr8 B5 Serum
  • Ultimate Recovery Moisturiser
  • Physical Sunscreen

Are chemical peels safe?

Chemical peels are safe when performed by a trained professional who follows appropriate treatment protocols, including correct strength and application time. Prior to treatment, a thorough consultation will be carried out to assess your skin condition, review your current skincare routine, and evaluate your medical history.

For those new to chemical peels, a gentle formulation is recommended initially, with gradual progression to more active treatments as your skin builds tolerance.

At Inspire Aesthetics, we offer superficial peels, which work within the epidermal layer of the skin to deliver results without significant inflammation and downtime.

What results can you expect?

Following a peel your skin should feel more clear, smooth, hydrated, and radiant.

It is normal to experience some sensitivity, dryness, or mild flaking for up to a week. For this reason, it is advisable to allow at least two weeks between a peel and any important social events.

If you wish to see improvement in a specific skin concern, we recommend a course of six treatments, spaced approximately four weeks apart.
